2023 Preview

Welcome to another new season and to The Studley Royal Cricket Club 2023 Handbook. After missing for a season, the Club Handbook is back and we hope you all find plenty of interesting facts and fixtures, to whet your appetite.

There have been several changes of Club Officials, including myself, and the new officials can be found on the coming pages. We wish everyone in their new positions the very best of luck, and I know you will all give them your full support.

So, the 2023 season sees our First Team, under the captaincy of Rob Nicholson, back in the revised Championship West of The Yorkshire Premier League North. This will be a difficult Division, as already we have lost Rob and Dan Coad to long term injury, but we wish ‘Pup’ and all his team good wishes for the season ahead.

We now look forward to the 2023 season, hopefully welcoming again some Australian players to add to the squads, while still seeing young up and coming juniors progress into the senior teams. Paul Scatchard will again captain the Second Team, but the Third and Forth teams have new captains at the helm, in Rob Hall and Warren Cunningham respectively. Nick Cunningham will captain our Evening League team. We wish them well in the season ahead.

It was tragic news, when we recently were informed that our Fourth Team captain last season had sadly passed away. Ian Holloway will be missed in both the club and the community for all his friendship, dedication and commitment to various causes. We send our deepest sympathy to all his family and friends.

Junior cricket will always continue to be so important at this Club, for all grades of cricketer. We are obviously proud of those that gain League Representative honours and beyond, but we welcome all players of all abilities. This year we commence The All Stars programme, and our hope is to discover another Yorkshire player. We continue to be proud of our ex Junior, Ben Coad, as his Yorkshire career continues to flourish, and joining him last season was ex junior Finlay Bean, who made his Yorkshire First Team debut with such flourish. Please refer to the Events Page for full details of the many events held during the year at our Club.

We will as normal be hosting representative matches, including, Yorkshire Junior matches, Lords Taverners, Touring teams, along with two Nidderdale Junior League Cup Final Days. Another very busy year both on and off the field of play.

This season we again say a big thank you to the friends of our Club who continue to support and sponsor us. As always, we ask all our Members to please return the support and wherever possible to use the business ventures of our sponsors.

We hope you enjoy the season, both on and off the field of play. As well as playing and supporting matches, please look at the Events page and come along to these and help the Club so that it continues to prosper.

Enjoy the Club and enjoy as always, the 2023 season.
